NEEV - TIDE FOUNDATION
To create strategies that bridge learning gaps in the education of underprivileged children.
1 year | July 2017 - July 2019
Project Head | Site Manager | Graphic Designer
TIDE Foundation | Non-Profit Organization | Ahmedabad
Project Objective
The project aims to cater to learning gaps in the Indian public schooling system which are a result of, but not limited to, a failing education system, limited support systems for young kids and cultural factors that hinder their growth.
How might we
empower underprivileged children from public schools by bettering their education while creating an environment for holistic personal growth.
Indian Educational System: Reasons for Failure

Unaffordable
Only 40% of India is literate, out of which only 10% attend private schools, and receive quality education

Teacher Shortage
Teaching staff receive minimum wage with no benefits, leading to a severe shortage, overworked teachers, and an overall neglect of holistic education

Inaccessible
Government schools are often inaccessible in remote villages and lack basic necessities & infrastructure

Poor Quality Education
Due to lack of quality education, 11-year old children cannot count up to 20 or even recite their ABC's!

Corruption
The current landscape is corrupt and used as a political piggy-bank

Vicious Cycle
These children end up joining the daily labor force or remain unemployed, with no opportunity for growth

Wicked Problems: Causes and Effects of Education System in India

Our Initiative: NEEV
In 2017, we piloted NEEV, which uses creative critical thinking, art, and value-based courses for teaching basic education and life skills.
Owing to the inadequate support system in underprivileged families, there are usually learning gaps in the education and overall development of the child. However, daily NEEV classes pose a risk of becoming burdensome.
